This workshop series is made possible through the Infinite Sums Rural & Small Libraries Cohort Grant Program, administered by the Association for Rural & Small Libraries (ARSL) in partnership with the Simons Foundation.
Patterns, Puzzles & Creativity at the Library is a month-long program celebrating the connections between math, nature, art, problem-solving, and creativity. The program includes a variety of puzzles and activities for all ages, including pentominoes, sequence challenges, tangrams, pattern puzzles, logic problems, number puzzles, brain teasers, Tower of Hanoi, and metal puzzles.
The library also offers several hands-on workshops and special events:
Saturday, November 21 at 1:00 PM: Fibonacci Clay Bowl Workshop – Part 1 with June Johnson. Participants begin creating a handcrafted clay bowl inspired by the Fibonacci sequence and patterns found in nature.
Monday, November 23 at 1:00 PM: Mad Science: Viral Spirals, an interactive science program exploring viruses, patterns, and spirals.
Saturday, November 28 at 1:00 PM: Mosaic Coaster or Candle Bowl Workshop, where participants create colorful mosaic artwork using glass tiles and geometric patterns.
Saturday, December 5 at 1:00 PM: Fibonacci Clay Bowl Workshop – Part 2, where participants complete their clay bowls using nature-inspired patterns.
All materials are provided, and everyone is welcome. The library will also have a Puzzle Corner open year-round, with games available for regular library use.
