The Grace M. Pickens Public Library serves people from all walks of life that possess a variety of viewpoints and tastes. The library staff chooses books and other materials to meet the informational, educational and recreational needs of our community. The staff is guided by the Collection Development Policy, which is adopted by the Library Board of Trustees.
Grace M. Pickens Public Library attempts to provide a comprehensive, well-balanced collection of general and specialized materials to meet the needs and demands of the community.
Chosen materials must meet one or more of the following criteria:
- Current and anticipated needs and interests of the public
- Accuracy of information
- Favorable commentary in review journals
- Author’s, artist’s or publisher’s qualifications or reputation
- Social significance
- Availability of funds
- Examination of item
